Shortcut Garlic
Bread
Nothing makes people hungrier than the smell of garlic bread in the oven,
and nothing is more delicious with your favorite pastas. This flavored bread enchances any
tomato sauce and is a perfect complement for almost any Italian dish.
1 10-inch loaf Italian or French bread
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 tbsp. chopped garlic
2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut partway through the bread in 1-inch intervals
with a serrated knife, without cutting all the way through the bread. In a small bowl,
combine the butter, garlic, parsley, lemon juice, and salt and pepper. Fan out the bread
slices and spread 1 tablespoon of flavored butter into each opening. Place the loaf
directly on the oven rack. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until heated through. Serve hot.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
